When Is the Best Time to Install a Resin Driveway?
Timing your resin driveway installation carefully can affect both the quality of the result and the price you pay. Here's what you need to know about seasonal considerations in the UK.
Weather Requirements
Resin bound surfaces need specific conditions for proper curing:
- Temperature above 5°C (ideally 10–25°C)
- Dry conditions — no rain during application and for 4–6 hours after
- Low humidity for optimal curing
- No frost expected for 24 hours after installation
Best Months for Installation
April to October is the ideal window. Spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) are particularly good — temperatures are moderate, rainfall is lower, and daylight hours are long enough for efficient working.
Summer (July–August) is popular but can be problematic. Very hot days can cause resin to cure too quickly, reducing working time. Installers are also busiest during summer, so you may wait longer for availability.
Winter (November–March) installations are possible but riskier. Cold temperatures slow curing, and unexpected rain or frost can ruin the finish. However, you may find better prices as installers have quieter schedules.
Seasonal Pricing
Prices tend to be highest in spring and summer when demand peaks. Booking for late autumn or early spring may save you 5–10% as installers look to fill their schedules. However, never choose a time solely based on price — quality of installation should always be the priority.
